About O.W.H.L

O.W.H.L — Overseeing Welfare, Human Rights, and Liberty was built in response to a systemic gap within the creative industries.

An industry driven by talent, innovation, and collaboration, yet underpinned by structures that have not evolved to protect the people within it.

The reality of creative work is different.

Freelance ecosystems.
Short-term productions.
Informal hierarchies and concentrated power.

And yet, safeguarding has remained rooted in traditional employment models that simply do not apply.

The result is a system where individuals are often left without clear protection, and organisations are left managing risk only after harm has occurred.

O.W.H.L bridges that gap.

Founded by Katie Waissel following firsthand experience of these failures, O.W.H.L is a safeguarding platform designed specifically for the realities of modern creative work.

It translates policy into practice.
It embeds accountability into everyday environments.
It ensures that safety is not reactive, but operational.

Through identity verification, real-time safety tools, anonymised reporting, and data-led insights, O.W.H.L provides both individuals and organisations with the infrastructure needed to work safely, transparently, and responsibly.

This is not about adding another layer of compliance.

It is about fundamentally changing how the industry operates.

Because safeguarding should not begin after harm has occurred.
It should exist to ensure that harm does not happen in the first place.

O.W.H.L is not here to support the system as it stands.

It is here to evolve it.
